RP Character List (WrA, Alliance&Horde) (Updated!)
image

Izzy Redrust  // Gnome // Knight // Herbalist // Lawful Good

A young gnomish woman raised among bandits in Elwynn Forest who, despite being liars and thieves, raised her with the care any other family would.  She has always had a love for things that grow, and a natural affinity towards the Light.  Compassionate and somewhat naive, she always tries to see the best in people, and help wherever she can.  After training for several years, she was knighted nearly on the eve of the Legion’s invasion, and now stands to fight them in any way she can.  (In-game name: Izzy)

Farodir Wavesinger // Night Elf // Druid of the Tide // True Neutral

Farodir is a member of the Druids of the Tide, a somewhat mysterious and isolate order of aquatic druids.  She, among several others, served as a liaison to the Cenarion Circle during the Cataclysm, seeking to help defeat Deathwing and heal the broken world.  Farodir is a powerful spellcaster, though somewhat eccentric, and often acts without giving clear reason for her actions.  What is clear is her deep hatred of demons, and her resolve to drive the Legion from her home world.  (In-game name: Farodir)

Fennacho // Draenei // Artificer // Neutral Good

Fennacho is smarter than you, probably.  It takes a sharp mind to be an artificer and work the crystalline techlogy of the Exodar, not to mention that he’s lived twice as long as you, at the very least.  That’s what he’d tell you if you asked him, anyway.  He’s very passionate about his work, and will launch into an explanation of various crystal types at the slightest provocation, but assumes he’s the smartest person in the room, and can sometimes be insufferable because of it.  He’s been overworked lately, trying to get the Vindicaar ready for its journey to Argus. (In-game name: Fennacho)

Jeigo // Mainland Pandaren // Ex-Monk // Revolutionary // Chaotic Neutral

Enraged by the senseless destruction of the Vale, Jeigo left his homeland shortly after the war in Pandaria to seek revenge on the Horde and Alliance.  In his mind, both were equally responsible for the tragedy.  Over time, his motivations have grown beyond simple vengeance and into a plan to reform both factions.  He’s hit several roadblocks to his plans, most notably a demon invasion, and takes whatever mercenary work he can get in the meantime.  (In-game name: Jeigo on Horde, Jeígo on Alliance)

image

Lealyssa Felrage // Blood Elf // Demon Hunter // Felcaster // Chaotic Neutral

Lealyssa has, for a demon hunter, a fairly unassuming silhouette.  She’s not particularly tall, scrawny to an almost unhealthy point, and with constant bags under what remains of her eyes.  But her tattoos are always glowing a vibrant green, like the fel energy inside her is always a step away from bursting out.  Lea has a manic energy to her that she brings everywhere, from the battlefield to the tavern, and good luck to anyone that meets her in either.  (In-game name: Lealyssa)

But actually the vulture thing is sad because birds imprint soon after hatching. Maybe s/he was born in captivity and you look JUST like their foster-human-parent and you're the only possible mate it can find.

DO NOT CREATE ANGST-FIC ABOUT MYSELF AND THE VULTURE

And the saddest part is they don’t know why the one who helped raise them in captivity won’t come outside to see them. But maybe its better this way, because if you went outside they’d realize that you aren’t their foster-human parent and that they really were abandoned.

STOP

He sits and watches her.

It isn’t that he needs the sunlight or the warmth that it brings. It’s the proximity. Sadness is an addiction that he never bargained for, but now that she is here he craves it. The painful drop in his chest when she looks at him and looks away. The emptiness that comes when she doesn’t look at all.

He is as invisible as the glass that separates them.

But no matter how often he spreads his wings - great, terrible things - she does not acknowledge him. Does not see his presence. Does not know how he longs for her.

Day after day, the vulture sits at the window. Day after day he waits for her to notice.

SHRIEKS ANGRILY

it returns.

I don’t know if this has been mentioned by anyone yet, but is it implied (in the context of black sails, not necessarily actual history) that the jolly roger flag design is inspired by Anne?

The first design jack uses is a skull with a hat and two swords. The very first shot we get of Anne she’s mostly in shadow, the only thing you can clearly make out are her two swords and her hat. They’re kind of her trademark, and I don’t think I can think of an Anne fight scene (aside from the shards of glass one) where she only has one sword.

I don’t know if that’s something the writers intended, but I think the idea’s cool as hell! A saw a great post a while ago when I was just lurking on here about female legacy in black sails, that talked about the iconic pirate flag everyone knows and recognizes being designed by a woman (Charlotte). It would add another amazing layer to that if the image itself is literally inspired by a queer woman! And it makes the final shot of the series very interesting; Anne smiling down at this distilled symbolic version of herself that eventually becomes THE symbol and legacy of pirates.

The Harrow Deck - Giveaway!

This is actually a Pathfinder item, but I purchased one recently and found it very entertaining and extremely easy to use in 5e. A PDF to the manual for the cards is [here.]

“You think they’re just cards? Just pictures and words good for gambling or faking townsfolk out of a few coppers? Go on, think that–I don’t mind. My cards know where you’ve been and where you’re going. And it’s not pretty. Not at all. So, walk away. Or stop and learn to turn the few remaining pages of the story of your life into a novel worth the telling. Or don’t. After all, they’re only cards.”

– Riana, Varisan harrower

These cards have great campaign-based lore and interpretation. It centers around the past, present, and future and the alignments. Read the manual for more, but send me an ask if you have any questions.

As a DM, I personally find it extremely useful for character creation as well, or inspiration for future events ;) . For example, you create a character or an NPC, and you perform a harrowing for them. This will lay out cards for their past, present, and future, giving you ideas on how to interpret that in your own world!

Of course, it’s fun to perform on PCs in-game as well. And it’s so up to interpretation, it doesn’t have to affect anything you don’t want it to affect.

There is a harrowing spell as well, which can easily be used or omitted.
